A renewal and recovery … more Merton

I feel a sense of renewal in my body, mind and spirit. It is a week of spiritual significance for me and many others – Holy Week and Passover. The spiritual significance causes me to pause, to go within. I sense an awakening, a recovery of creativity. As I meditate on the spiritual significance of this week, I feel the love of God more powerfully than ever.

Watching The Sunrise

May everyone, in every corner of the world, know love. Once we know love, we can’t help but share love. In sharing love, we are our best selves. We are renewed.

There is in us an instinct for newness, for renewal, for a liberation of creative power. We seek to awaken in ourselves a force which really changes our lives from within. And yet the same instinct tells us that this change is a recovery of that which is deepest, most original, most personal in ourselves. To be born again is not to become somebody else, but to become ourselves. – from “Christian Humanism” in Love and Living, Thomas Merton
