The words suddenly had deeper meaning as Peter, Paul and Mary looked out on the crowd stretching before them on the National Mall in Washington, Aug. 28, 1963.

The folk group’s performance of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In the Wind” and Pete Seeger’s and Lee Hays’ “If I Had a Hammer” became etched into the musical anthology of the Civil Rights Movement and the 1960s. May that “Bell of Freedom” continue to peal around the world.
